UCSF iGEM team takes home gold medal and advances to World Championship

October 8, 2013

The UCSF iGEM team just returned from competing at the iGEM North American Regional Jamboree held in Toronto.

They presented their work on a system they designed to take advantage of normal DNA transfer mechanisms in bacteria to specifically target "bad" bacteria and their genes using CRISPRi (for more information please see the team wiki). Their outstanding data earned the team a gold medal, and they will advance to the World Jamboree held next month at MIT where they will compete with the top teams from the European, Asian, and Latin American Regionals. Congratulations team, and good luck!
