Teachers get hands-on genomics experience at Center workshop
March 27, 2015
For this whole week -- March 23-27 -- the Center partnered with Cold Spring Harbor's DNA Learning Center to host a workshop on "Genomic Approaches in Biosciences" for secondary and post-secondary educators.
Teachers came from near and far: high school teachers from Pennsylvania and Connecticut, university educators from Puerto Rico, and several others scattered along the West Coast. Over the week, the educators got a crash course in RNAi experiments in C. elegans as well as learned about DNA barcoding, all the while gathering experience and instruction in Bioinformatics. CSH Instructor Bruce Nash has done a fantastic job developing this curriculum, and we were happy we could partner with him to bring this amazing experience to teachers.
