Helping Develop High School Curriculum at SFUSD Career Technical Education Industry Input Night

November 18, 2014

The Center participates on the advisory board for development of curriculum at a Biotechnology Academy housed at Wallenberg High School in San Francisco Unified School District.

At an event with industry partners and researchers at UCSF, our Education Coordinator Kara Helmke led an advisory group with the Biotech instructor at Wallenberg to help develop her course and provide support through scientist visits and laboratory exercise design. This is part of a long-term collaboration which has been on-going this semester between Helmke and Wallenberg which has helped to redesign the course. We hope to continue the partnership in the Spring 2015 semester by doing classroom visits and helping provide lab supplies for cutting edge experiments!
